Stormwater Protection Devices

Federal, state, and local regulations require the installation of temporary devices at curb, rear yard and alley inlets to capture and slow stormwater run-off in an effort to filter out as much sediment as possible and prevent it from entering the water system in areas near active construction.

As mandated, these devices are designed to work slowly to protect water quality. In the Lowcountry, and particularly in the summertime when we get periods of heavy rainfall, it can take up to 72 hours for accumulated stormwater to drain in these areas.

Developing areas are inspected weekly to to ensure that the proper protections are being maintained. Inlet protection devices must remain in place until construction activity in the surrounding area, including home construction, is complete. Please do not remove or tamper with these devices! If you live in an area where water is taking more than 72 hours to completely drain, please contact the POA office.

Thank you for your cooperation!
