The 2023 Hurricane Season Has Begun
Hurricane season is officially upon us. From now through November 30th, we urge residents to take the steps necessary to be prepared for action in the event that our region gets hit by a severe coastal storm. Now is the time to brush off your family’s emergency plan - or to put one together if you don’t have one already. Talking with family members in advance about what could happen during a weather emergency will help ensure that everyone is prepared if action is required.
Please take a moment to review the information and links listed below for important emergency preparedness information prepared by the SC Emergency Management Division, City of Charleston, Berkeley County and American Red Cross. This is especially important for residents who are new to Charleston and the Lowcountry and who have never experienced an oncoming storm or hurricane evacuation, but all residents should review this information annually as it is updated from year to year.
In the event that we are notified of a potential storm, the POA office will communicate important information and updates about the approaching storm to residents via email. These communications will continue before and after the event in an effort to help keep residents informed of any impact to our community, and to share important information from City, county or state officials and emergency personnel.
