  • Q: What day is garbage pick-up?

    The City of Charleston’s Public Services Department is responsible for garbage removal. City bins should be placed out late Monday evening for Tuesday pick-up each week. Bins must be put away by the end of the day each Tuesday. If you have not received a green City of Charleston garbage can, please click here to request for a can to be delivered to your home.

  • Q. How do I sign up to receive the community e-newsletter?

    In order to sign up for “The Log,” the POA e-newsletter, please email poa@pointhopecharleston.com with your email address, full name and property address. If you have already done so and you are still not receiving our communications, please check your spam folder in your email. The e-newsletter has been known to be captured by spam filters. If you continue to have trouble, please contact the POA office.

  • Q: What social media channels can residents visit to interact with one another online?

    Residential property owners at Point Hope can join the “Point Hope Residents” Facebook Group to interact with neighbors and residents. You can also visit the public Facebook page for Point Hope (@pointhopecharleston) for community news and information about development activity and events.

  • Q: When will the first pool open?

    We’re working with a highly regarded, nationally recognized architectural and design firm on the design for our proposed pool and sports park amenity and the City permitting process is underway. Once permitting is complete, the developer will provide further details about the project and a timeline.

  • Q: What other amenities are planned for Point Hope residents?

    The development and planning team is currently evaluating sites and options for a range of sports and recreational amenities for Point Hope. These will be developed in stages as the community grows, and information will be shared through the Property Owners' Association as plans progress.

  • Q. Are golf carts allowed in the community?

    Yes. City of Charleston ordinances for operation of golf carts and LSVs must be followed. Golf carts are not allowed on trails, bike paths or sidewalks. Please click here for additional information about Golf Cart Regulations at Point Hope.

  • Q. Who is responsible for clearing litter in the neighborhoods, parks and trails?

    Home builders are responsible for the litter surrounding their sites during active construction in the neighborhoods, and the POA staff monitor these areas regularly to make sure maintenance standards are being met. The landscaping crew contracted and managed by the POA is responsible for removing litter in the parks and along the trails when they come across it.

  • Q: What kind of street trees will be planted? When will they be planted?

    A carefully selected variety of trees will be planted by the developer when construction in each block is completed. Tree plantings are conducted according to the City of Charleston regulations and are coordinated to occur when temperatures are cooler to allow the trees to get established before the hot summer months. This typically takes place in the fall or near the end of the year. Once planted, street trees are the property owner's responsibility to maintain.   • Q. How do I find out the exterior colors on my existing home?

  • Q. I would like to make exterior changes to my home. What is the process?

    Please complete and submit the Design & Use Review Board Modification Application before making any exterior modifications including landscape changes, pool additions, etc. The form can be downloaded here and submitted to durb@pointhopecharleston.com.

  • Q: What new businesses will be coming to Point Hope?

    Commercial representatives continue to speak with interested parties for a wide variety of retail, restaurant, professional, medical, and other services and conveniences. We will continue to announce new businesses coming to the community as sales transactions are finalized.

  • Q: Is there a map of the trails planned for Point Hope?

    There are currently approximately five miles of trails in place at Point Hope. As the neighborhoods evolve we will continue to develop the trails and pedestrian paths that will be part of Point Hope’s trail network. Once our trail network is more established, a community trail map will be produced.

  • Q: What are plans for the white house in Hopewell?

    That's the Sanders House, built in the late 1800s. It is currently being stabilized to prevent further deterioration, and current plans are for construction on renovations to take place in 2024. The property will be landscaped with space for raised bed gardening and other resident activities.

  • Q. Do dogs have to be on a leash?

    Yes, dogs need to be kept on a leash in public spaces per the Pet Ordinances set by the City of Charleston and guidelines regarding pets from the Point Hope CC&Rs. Peggy’s Park, located at the entrance to the Hopewell neighborhood, is a designated leash-free area for dogs.

  • Q: Who do I speak with about traffic concerns?

    Residents who experience speeding or other traffic concerns in the neighborhoods on an ongoing basis should contact the City of Charleston’s Department of Traffic & Transportation at (843) 724-7368. Residents can also contact their City Council Member, Boyd Gregg at (843) 408-9798, to express ongoing concerns.   • Q. What should I do or not do if I see an alligator in our lakes or ponds?

    PLEASE DO NOT approach or feed alligators. To report an alligator, please contact the POA office at (843) 352-3150 or email poa@pointhopecharleston.com. Provide a description of the alligator (approximate length and any special behavior you may have noted) and the exact pond location. It is also very helpful – if you are comfortable and in a safe position – to take a photo of the alligator and attach the picture to your email.

  • Q. Who sprays for mosquitoes in our neighborhood?

    Berkeley County is responsible for treating and spraying Point Hope. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Berkeley County Mosquito Abatement at (843) 719-4646.

  • Q. How do I notify the POA when I update my email address, phone number or mailing address?

    Please contact the Point Hope Property Owners’ Association office if you have changed your mailing address, phone number, or email address in the last year. We need to ensure that the Association Office has all of your up-to-date contact information, including any email or address changes, in preparation for receiving the annual assessment invoices and annual letter from your POA. Simply send your changes to  poa@pointhopecharleston.com or calling (843) 352-3150.

  • Q: What do I do if I'm having trouble with mail delivery at the neighborhood mail kiosk?

    If your mailbox key does not work, please contact the POA office. If you are having trouble getting your mail delivered to your address, you need to contact the North Charleston Post Office at (843) 569-2610. You can also ask the mail carrier for assistance if you see him or her at the kiosk.

  • Q: Who is responsible for fixing potholes and cracked sidewalks in the neighborhoods?

    The City of Charleston owns and maintains the sidewalks and streets at Point Hope. To report a problem area, contact the Public Service Department at (843) 724-3754.

  • Q: Where can I keep my boat?

    Safe Harbor Marina is 2 miles away. Wando Marina is 4 miles. Daniel Island Marina & Boat Club are 7 miles away.
