Decking the (Outdoor) Halls at Point Hope

‘Tis the season for dressing up our homes and neighborhoods and celebrating the spirit of the holidays. We’re looking forward to seeing all of the creative displays! The staff at The Hub will be decking their halls soon and by late November you’ll see festive lights appear outside The Hub and on the Village Green.

We encourage residents to express their creativity and individual style in their yards and front porches at this time of year, and to enjoy their first holiday season at Point Hope. For the benefit of all, please keep the following guidelines from the CC&Rs in mind during your holiday decorating and celebratory activities:

  • Please make sure all of your decorations stay within your property’s boundaries. It is a violation of CC&Rs, as well as City of Charleston ordinances, to place decorations in the right of way (the area between the curb and the sidewalk).

  • Per the CC&Rs, all decorations, religious and holiday symbols must be removed from the exterior of your home or unit within 30 days following the occurrence of the applicable holiday.

  • The City of Charleston (Ordinance Sec. 13-191) prohibits the use, sale, possession and discharge of any fireworks within the City limits, including at Point Hope.

  • Smaller items such as sparklers, snap-pops or similar items are not regulated as fireworks materials and are permissible. Please exercise caution if using these items and be mindful of your neighbors.

  • Fireworks displays must be conducted by a licensed operator with a permit issued by the City of Charleston.

  • Please call 9-1-1 to report the use of illegal fireworks. The Charleston Police Department will respond to complaints.

We appreciate everyone’s attention to these rules and regulations to ensure that all neighbors enjoy a beautiful and safe holiday season!
