Our Favorite Winter Events In Charleston
We don’t get much winter weather here in the Lowcountry, but the days are shorter and the temperatures aren’t as reliable as they are later in the year, making January and February a less popular time of year for special events. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of options for getting out and about in Charleston to enjoy special activities and events. Here are a few of our favorite winter events in Charleston:
Charleston Restaurant Week
January 12-22
Charleston Restaurant Week is an 11 day celebration that features a variety of specially priced menu items and other promotions and discounts at more than 40 restaurants throughout the region. Incorporating everything from casual cuisine to fine dining, the event is designed to give local residents a reason to explore the vast array of dining establishments in Charleston. Ice Skating at Patriots Point
Through February 4th
Chill out Thursday through Sunday each week through February 4th at Patriots Point! Bring the family to enjoy skating on the Point’s synthetic ice rink, s’mores, hot cocoa and a fire pit. There are also igloos available for rent! Click here for further information.
Stingrays Hockey
Home games through April 15
Support our local ECHL hockey team, the South Carolina Stingrays, in their upcoming home games through April. Tickets and apparel are available for purchase both online and at The North Charleston Coliseum. Click here for tickets and information.
Oysters on the Point
January 8, February 5, March 26
Winter is the height of oyster season in the Lowcountry. Indulge at Oysters on the Point, a series of events held beachside at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Charleston Museum’s 250th Anniversary Events
All year long
Celebrate The Charleston Museum’s 250th birthday with historical fun, history focused crafts and other activities. Explore and uncover the special displays and surprises scattered throughout the museum with an exclusive birthday themed scavenger hunt. Click here for the current event schedule.
Camellia Walks at Middleton Place
February 5
Camellias enhance the gardens of Middleton Place with thousands of blossoms throughout the winter months. Second Sunday on King Street
Takes place the second Sunday of each month
This monthly event is held in downtown Charleston on King Street the second Sunday of the month all year ‘round. King Street is closed to vehicles south of Calhoun Street so that visitors and locals have plenty of room to shop, dine and enjoy Charleston’s most popular shopping and dining corridor. Lowcountry Oyster Festival
January 29
This annual event is the region’s largest oyster roast by far, featuring more than 45,000 lbs. of oysters, local beer, food, live music, oyster eating and shucking contests, children’s activities and more at historic Boone Hall Plantation. Click here for ticket information.
Southeastern Wildlife Exposition
February 17-19
